Designed for Art

The design for Memphis’ new art museum places people and art first. It originated from deep conversations with Memphians about how they wanted to experience and interact with their city’s art collection.

  • Galleries Big and Small

    The new museum places all art galleries on one level, democratizing the art experience and expanding the stories we can tell. Individual galleries can become larger or smaller depending on the art on view.

  • The River Galleries

    With so much content to consume, these ‘pause spaces’ will deliver a meditative experience for visitors.

  • Rooftop Sculpture Garden

    The enitre roof of Memphis’ art museum will be a 50,000 square foot sculpture park with views of the Mississippi River. With native plantings and meandering pathways, the rooftop will be a beautiful addition to the skyline for neighbors.
